Langley Children’s Society was incorporated in 1975 to provide preschool services to 15 children, all of whom where identified as having special needs. The boundaries of service are School District No. 35. Since that time, the Society has evolved to provide a range of services to children aged birth to 19 years and supports to over 700 children in the community.
Early Intervention services are developed around age appropriate groupings:
- Services to Infants – children birth to age three in the family home, through weekly playgroups and social evening;
- Services to Preschool Aged Children – age three to six, in community based settings and the Society’s own preschools, through daily, weekly and monthly consulting and direct one: one services;
- Services to High School Aged Youth – age 12 to 19 at the Society’s Centre, through After School Life Skill development and Social Programmes. This community inclusion programme additionally offers spring and summer break social day camps;
- Community Education Services – through a variety of educational opportunities for parents and service providers.
